Facebook announced on Wednesday that it’s beginning to institute a new interface that will pop up when users connect their Facebook accounts to third-party services - one which the social-networking company says will bring more “transparency” to how much information its nearly 500 million users are sharing across the web.

Blog iPhone in Australia claims that it knows the Australian iPhone 4 release date, claiming employees of local Apple Stores are being asked to start early on Friday July 23, and that no staff member is allowed to request leave for this day.

The unit features the industry’s thinnest profile and most compact size; nevertheless it still offers a worldwide multi-standard compatibility supporting all terrestrial digital and analog broadcasting systems around the globe. Though the new Xbox 360 certainly addresses most of the concerns we’ve had with the versions before it, we don’t think it warrants a purchase if you already own an Xbox 360 in working order with an HDMI-out port and a hard drive.

BenQ unveils the world’s first VA (Vertical Alignment) monitors. The new 16:9 Full HD LED series includes the 24″ EW2420 and VW2420 and the 21.5″ VW2220. VA LED panels have better color reproduction, ultra high contrast ratio and display blacks more accurately. Although not stated explicitly, one could expect that BenQ uses the technology from AU Optronics as the company has used the same technology in its Home Cinema TV series. MSI’s CR620 is decent. It manages to cram Core i5 into the sub-AU$1000 bracket, something we haven’t seen before. Though the battery life could be better, and the choice of 32-bit Windows is just plain odd.

Occasionally I get queries from users looking for documentation and/or software for vintage digital cameras. In many cases it turns out a real challenge to find this information, as websites have disappeared, links are broken or relevant data has been deleted. A refreshing exception is the Kodak support site, where even documents and firmware on the Kodak DC40, the first consumer digital camera launched 15 years ago, are available on the net.
