A Tesla Roadster run in this year’s Global Green Challenge between Darwin and Adelaide has smashed the record for the longest distance travelled by an electric car on a full charge, but it had to be driven at an excruciatingly slow pace.

Toshiba unveils Back-side illumination image sensor

Following the first endeavors by Omnivision and Sony, Toshiba now announces a new CMOS image sensor with 14.6 million pixels and back-side illumination (BSI) technology. In traditional image sensors the light entering the sensor is blocked by the wires, degrading the overall light sensitivity. In this BSI technology the lenses are attached to the back side of a substrate and deliver light directly to the photodiodes, without any interference from wiring. As a result, the light sensitivity and overall performance are boosted…
