The Synology DS209 is an excellent little unit, with a more complex than necessary set up routine. Still for those looking for a highly featured, high performing NAS with an easy to use and flashy menu, it’s certainly a compelling choice.

A pedicab-like vehicle has been rolling around the pedestrian walkways of the University of Pennsylvania to collect panoramic images of the campus for Google Maps Street View feature. The 250-pound vehicle resembles the pedicabs that carry tourists around Philadelphia and other cities, has the cyclist up front, and the camera mounted on an 8-foot high tower in the back. On the rear is a red generator along with a large chest that looks like an ice cream dispenser but actually contains the computer recording the digital images…

The Olympus E-P1 looks like something out of the 1950s, and that’s because it almost is. Based around the classic Pen camera series from the company, the E-P1 is the world’s third production model camera to use the micro four thirds format.

The Panasonic SC-PT870 is a good all-round home-cinema system. Offering excellent picture quality, its performance with movies is great. But, while sound quality via the iPod dock is impressive, it’s abysmal via the USB socket. Overall, we’d suggest that, for students or people with limited space, this is a good choice. It’s certainly loud enough to keep your neighbours awake at night.

Not within everyone’s ballpark, the Loewe Art 42 SL is a pricey LCD TV, but if you can afford it, you won’t be disappointed. It’s a stylish bit of kit with plenty of upgrade and customisable options.

LG unveils the new 55″ 55LH95 and 55LH93 ultra-slim “full LED” LCD TVs. These new ultra-slim TVs employ patented technology that keeps the chassis thickness down to 24.8mm. The technology allows the LEDs to be spread-out horizontally and minimizes the distance between the LEDs and the screen. Another innovation in the new LED LCD TV is the enhanced wireless feature which eliminates the need for image compression. Content can be sent from a DVD player, game console or home-theater unit wirelessly without any degradation…

Pentax launches the Optio W80 digital camera that withstands depths of up to 16 feet (5 meters) to protect from rain and spills, as well as allowing full underwater photos & video for up to 2 hours. The shockproof design protects against drops of up to 3.3 feet to protect the camera from hard use and occasional spills. The 12.1 Mp W80 features a 5x internal optical zoom, wide-angle lens (28mm) in a slim one inch body that will be available in Cardinal Red, Azure Blue and Gunmetal Gray.
