Just posted! The seven megapixel Canon PowerShot A620 (along with the 5MP A610, launched simultaneously) replaces the popular A95, and joins the A520 as an affordable, well-specified compact for the enthusiast user on a budget. The A620 certainly looks promising on paper; newly kitted out with the fast DIGIC II processor and a 2.0-inch LCD, it has a wealth of shooting options and 4x optical zoom. Read the concise review after the link to find out what we thought.
My work area now consists of a Apple Powerbook, an Apple G5 Powermac and a 23-inch Cinema HD Display.
In previous posts, I’ve mentioned my use of the versatile Bogen Manfrotto Spring Clamp w/ Hot Shoe for my wireless speedlight work. A handful of readers have asked me about their availability, so here’s a bit more info.
So this is my first blog for the Lexar site. I’m not quite sure where to begin so I thought I’d just clear the air a bit and let you know why I’m here. I’ve been using Lexar products since I started shooting digital in 1998 and a 64 megabyte flash card was considered a big card.
Making sure that your images are securely backed up is extremely important. Here are some ideas from TGP contributor Jon Sienkiewicz on how to make sure your images are safe for the long run.

Here’s a taste of a fairly typical, high profile, news photography event. A few weeks ago, I was alerted to the upcoming visit of HRH Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, and his wife HRH Camilla Parker Bowles, the Duchess of Cornwall to the San Francisco Bay Area.
My favorite and most passionate subject of late is photographing Turkey’s Whirling Dervishes. Although not a household name in the West, most are likely to recognize this mystical sect of Islam by their trance-like spinning dance portrayed in travel magazines or television travel programs.
When the earthquake and tsunami struck South Asia in late December 2004, the world rallied to assist those in need. Hawaii became the South Pacific headquarters for United States military aid being sent to the afflicted areas.
In real estate, a great picture can be worth thousand$
This week, a follow-up to what I wrote about last week. Digital opens up a great many options for producing black and white images that film shooters could only dream of so it’s taking me two weeks to cover the subject….
Although one of the smallest components of a digital camera, the memory card is an aspect that you need to know about for a variety of reasons.
A powerful DSLR that worked its way up the ranks.
Reveal highlights! Expose shadows!
12.8MP, and no 35mm “lens factor.” Amen!

After all, cheaper consumer models often do, and it seems to be an easy trick for a digital camera. But the truth is that even if your camera can shoot directly in black and white, you’re much better off sticking with color, and converting to B&W in Photoshop after the fact….
